On Saturday, June 11th, local area fire companies participated in the 44th Annual Tri-County Firematics Competition hosted by the Peapack Gladstone Fire Department. The annual competition is based on a series of simulated firefighting activities. The goal is to successfully complete each activity, which consists of two hose events and one ladder event, in the least amount of time. Trophies are awarded for each of the three individual events and the team with the lowest time for all three events combined is declared the overall winner.

In what proved to be a close competition, the Liberty Corner Fire Company placed first in the single hose event, third in the ladder event, second in the double hose event, and finished with the lowest combined time for all three events thereby taking home the first place trophy for the overall competition. Other fire companies participating in this year’s firematics competition were Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Chatham Boro, Far Hills-Bedminster, Green Village, Martinsville, New Vernon, and Stirling.

The Tri-County Firematics Association would like to thank the Peapack Gladstone Fire Department for hosting this year’s event.

LCFC Visits Kids’ Summer Camps to Talk About Fire Safety

LCFC participated in several summer camps at various schools in town to talk about fire safety. Kids from grades K-5 participated in demonstrations shown by our firefighters where they saw some of the tools of the trade, the gear we wear, and got to sit in the fire engine. We are grateful to be invited back every year to educate our young residents in fire safety. Thank you to the Bernards Twp Recreation Department and the Summer Recreation Program Staff for putting it all together.
